This amazing 6-day safari starts in Dar es Salaam and features a unique train journey to Mikumi National Park, where you’ll enjoy fantastic game drives. The trip also takes you to Iringa Town to visit the historical Ismila Stone Age Museum. Day by Day Itinerary

You will begin your 6-day safari with an early morning departure from Dar es Salaam. At 5:20 AM, your driver will pick you up from your hotel and transfer you to the SGR station for your unique train journey to the Mikumi area in Morogoro province. Enjoy the scenic views of the Tanzanian countryside along the way. Upon arrival, you will meet your expert guide driver who will take you to Camp Bastian at Mikumi for check-in and lunch. In the evening, your guide will lead you on a walk to a nearby Maasai Boma Village to learn about their fascinating culture and traditions. Afterward, you will return to your Camp for dinner and an overnight stay, preparing for a full day of game drives tomorrow.

Today, you will spend the entire day exploring Mikumi National Park on a full-day game drive. You’ll enjoy different wild animal activities and focus on finding all the park’s main residents, utilizing the prime wildlife viewing opportunities available. You will break for lunch at Mikumi Cottages, located inside the park boundary. After lunch, the game drive will continue until sunset. Afterwards, you will return to Camp Bastian Mikumi for a restful dinner and overnight stay, ready for the next day’s adventure.

Time for a change of scenery! Right after breakfast this morning, your driver will take you on a short trip to the incredible Udzungwa Mountains National Park. Get ready for a proper adventure: an amazing hike up to the Sanje Waterfalls, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in all of Tanzania. The views are absolutely breathtaking, and keep your eyes peeled because you might just spot some rare primates, like the unique Udzungwa red colobus monkey! Once the hike is done, you’ll head back to your hotel for a much-needed rest and a delicious dinner. Tomorrow morning, after breakfast, we start the drive to the massive Ruaha National Park to explore its totally different, natural landscapes.

Get ready for a big travel day, but with some fantastic stops! We’ll head out in the morning and drive towards Iringa, but we’re making a fascinating stop at the Isimila Stone Age Site first. It’s a hugely important archaeological spot where you can walk among incredible ancient rock formations and learn all about early human history—it’s seriously cool! After that historical detour, we’ll continue the drive to Tanzania’s largest national park, Ruaha. When we finally arrive, we’ll check you into the gorgeous Ruaha Hilltop Lodge so you can relax, have dinner, and get completely rested for the massive wildlife viewing waiting for you tomorrow.

Today is all about exploring the immense Ruaha National Park! This place is truly special, known for having some huge populations of elephants and lions. We’ll spend the whole day driving around, keeping our eyes peeled for incredible sightings. We’ll stop for a delicious picnic lunch right inside the park, giving us more time to search for action. We’ll continue game viewing until sunset, specifically looking for predators like lions, hyenas, and maybe even a shy leopard as they start their evening hunts. Once the sun is down, we’ll head back to your lodge for dinner, some relaxation, and a good night’s sleep.

Today marks the end of your adventure. We’ll have an early breakfast at the lodge and depart promptly at 6:00 AM. Your driver will take you back toward Morogoro, heading straight for the Jakaya Train Station, and you’ll have a packed lunch box to enjoy on the way. Once at the station, you’ll transfer to the train for the scenic ride back to Dar es Salaam. You should arrive in Dar es Salaam around 7:00 PM, where your final driver will be waiting to take you directly to your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your incredible 6-day safari.
